On the origins of the World Social Forum

Much has been said these past years on the origins of the World Social Forum. Was it a purely Brazilian invention? Did the French not play an as important role? Or do the origins have to be sought for in Italy? Many claim to be the real fathers of the Forum, while maybe, as this article seems to suggest, it has a mother, Susan George, American French philosopher and activist.

This article of 2002 is in Italian, for those interested, it is easy to find a google or other automatic translation. But it certainly is worth reading!

Could it be a coincidence that Susan George, a woman, is rarely mentioned as being at the origin of WSF?
